OVERVIEW

Year 7 Catch-Up Premium is a type of funding additional to the main school funding. It is received from the government and is allocated to pupils who failed to achieve a National Curriculum Level 4 at the end of Key Stage 2 in either Mathematics or English reading. The purpose of the funding is to enable schools to deliver additional support, such as individual tuition or intensive support in small groups, for those pupils that most need it.

use of catch up premium

In 2012-13 we received funding for 17 students who are entitled to this provision. They are completing a bespoke programme of literacy and/or numeracy interventions each week in order to enable them to access the curriculum effectively.

In 2013-14 we received funding for 15 students who are entitled to this provision. They are completing a bespoke programme of literacy and/or numeracy interventions each week in order to enable them to access the curriculum effectively.

IMPACT OF CATCH UP PREMIUM

Already 6 of our current Year 7 students have improved their Maths and English levels up to Level 4, despite only being in the Academy for a short period of time. Our team are working diligently with the remaining students who are not quite at Level 4 to ensure they are closing the gap on their peers.

11 of the current Year 8 students eligible for this funding have reached level 4 in their Maths or English work. Our team are working diligently with the remaining students who are not quite at Level 4 to ensure they are closing the gap on their peers.
